When tax season approaches, you may need to file certain tax forms for your Health Savings Account (HSA). Follow P&A Group’s guide below to access all of the required forms through your P&A HSA.
Please note you do not need to provide these forms if you participate in an FSA, Commuter Benefits Plan, or HRA.
A Health Savings Account (HSA) is a special savings account where your contributions can be used now or during retirement. When you enroll in an HSA, you pay for eligible medical, dental and vision expenses with tax-free dollars. Unlike an FSA, there is no “use-or-lose” stipulation with an HSA, so your funds will roll over from year to year.

Here is a breakdown of each form you may be required to report.
Form | Description |
IRS Form 1099 | File to report annual distributions from an HSA. |
IRS Form 5498 | File to report annual HSA contributions. |
IRS Form 8889 | File to report year-to-date account contributions and distributions from your HSA. |
